  • Big Data Engineers ($183K), Mobile Applications Developers ($175,750) and Data Security Analysts ($160k) are predicted to be the highest paying IT-related jobs in 2016. The first two jobs are expected to gain over 8% in salary this year as well. The top ten jobs Robert Half predicts have the highest salary growth potential are listed in the following graphic.

  • Network Engineers, Help Desk and .NET Development lead the top positions in demand in New England, with Web Developers, Software Engineers, and Help Desk being most in demand in the Pacific states. The following graphic provides a breakdown of the top five positions by region based on Robert Half’s IT employment analysis.

  • Healthcare, Financial Services, Managed Services, Telecommunications, and Hospitality are the hottest industries for hiring in 2016.   Robert Half’s analysis of industries expected to attain the fastest growth shows how analytics and Big Data are essential for healthcare financial services and manufacturing to grow continually and evolve.  The following graphic provides a regional analysis of the fastest-growing industries.

  • Mobile Application Developers with Java and C# development skills have the potential to earn 9% more than the median income for their positions in 2016. Quantifying the percentage increase in income by skill, Robert Half provides skill multipliers throughout their salary guide. The first of four tables in the report for the U.S. is shown  Robert Half has broken out salaries by position in Canada in this report as well.

  • The five most lucrative certifications include Cisco, Microsoft, project management, security and VMware Certified Professionals (VCP). The hottest Cisco certifications include Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP). The most in-demand Microsoft certifications include Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP). The Project Management Professional (PMP) is in high demand, especially in enterprise software companies.  High demand security certifications include Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).  There’s also strong demand for VMware Certified Professionals (VCP).
